Found just south of Puerto del Carmen, Puerto Calero is an exclusive resort built around a stunning marina where you’ll find a plethora of luxury yachts and opulent boats harbouring. This marina is at the heart of the resort and is where most of the action takes place, both during the daytime and after sunset.

There is a wonderful selection of chic restaurants surrounding the marina where you can indulge in a light lunch of freshly-caught fish alongside a deliciously crisp salad and an ice-cold glass of white wine. If you’re not feeling hungry, you can pop into one of the many swanky cocktail lounges and relax on the sun-kissed terrace with an exotic drink.

For a cheaper alternative, simply sit yourself down on one of the benches and watch the vessels sail in and out of the harbour or head to the water’s edge and feed the fish. For something a bit more hands on, check out the kiosks surrounding the harbour and sign up for one of the excursions. There is a wealth of activities to choose from, including deep sea fishing, sailing and scuba diving.

Behind the harbour-side eateries you’ll find a plethora of shops and boutiques, all of which boast top-end designer labels. This is the best place to go if you’d like to indulge in a spot of fashionable retail therapy.

Puerto Calero doesn’t offer any type of beach, but there is a stunning promenade which connects the resort to Puerto del Carmen where you’ll find plenty of sandy bays to choose from. Even if you’re not in the mood for a day at the beach, this promenade makes for a wonderful walk.

There is a great selection of accommodation throughout the resort, with something to suit every type of visitor. If you’re in the mood to splash out, there is a number of luxury hotels to choose from, some of which offer deluxe all-inclusive packages. If you’d prefer something a bit more budget-friendly, you’ll be pleased to hear that there is also a wide variety of privately-owned self-catering villas and apartments available.

For travellers looking for an air of sophistication and exclusivity away from the mainstream tourist resorts, Puerto Calero is the ideal holiday destination.
